Out of production run - information for collectors A rare item of Australian Knife Heritage, an authentic replica of a Fairbairn Sykes-Type Commando Knife originally manufactured by Gregory Steel Products Pty Ltd in 1943- 44. An estimated 500 were produced for issue to Australian and allied troops. Inspired by the now legendary Fairbairn Sykes British Commando Knife, the "Gregsteel" rendition differs by virtue of it's more reliable 1/4" solid ricasso and blade spine and distinctive Mazak hilt. Another version featured a wooden hilt to similar specifications. Most bore Australian Military Markings, which for legal reasons cannot appear on the authentic replica. The AKC (Australasian Knife Collectors), the registered owner of the Gregory Steel Products - "Gregsteel" Tradename and Trademark is proud to revitalize the good name of this historic Australian cutlery manufacturer, which ceased its cycle of existence on 11 March 1975, and to reintroduce certain edgeware for which the firm gained such a fine reputation.
