I first met Bernard in San Francisco in 1987. We became instant friends. Later Bernard kindly accommodated me at his home in Eugene, Oregon. He was immensely helpful on that occasion by providing a heavy-duty critique of the manuscript of my first book. It caused a re-write. A hard lesson learned. Thanks Bernie! The best baptism an aspiring author could get. Over the years we've kept in contact and shared knowledge. A smart and scholarly fellow with a sophisticated sense of humour, I rate him by far and away the leading knifewriter in the world. It is a privilege to maintain a mutual website connection across the world with Mr Levine. No knife-minded soul ought to be without Bernard's books in their library.
However, the A.K.C. does act as a conduit for members on an individual basis, contacting other members, knifemakers or collectors as appropriate. Address details are not released without authorisation. Phone numbers (or email addresses) are passed on with discretion and with the owners permission. |
